24/7 Emergency Plumbing — Call Any Time

Emergency Plumbing Repairs in Illawarra

24/7 emergency plumbing repairs across Wollongong, Kiama, Shellharbour and the greater Illawarra region. Burst pipes, blocked drains, gas leaks, flooding, sewage overflow and hot water failures — fast response by licensed plumbers, day or night.

Emergency plumbing repairs are urgent plumbing services provided outside normal business hours — or during business hours when the situation cannot wait — to prevent property damage, health risks or loss of essential services. In Illawarra, emergency plumbing repairs cost $250-$800+ depending on the issue and timing. After-hours callout fees range from $80-$180 on top of the repair cost. Common plumbing emergencies include burst water pipes ($300-$600 to repair), blocked sewers backing up into the home ($250-$500 to clear), gas leaks requiring immediate isolation and repair ($250-$600), flooding from burst pipes or appliance failures, complete loss of hot water during cold weather, and uncontrollable running water. Response time for emergency plumbing in Illawarra is typically within 60 minutes for most suburbs. A genuine plumbing emergency is defined as any situation where delay would result in significant property damage (flooding, structural damage), a health hazard (sewage exposure, gas leak), or loss of an essential service that cannot wait until the next business day. When calling an emergency plumber, turn off the water at the mains if possible, turn off the hot water system, isolate the gas meter if you smell gas, and move valuables away from water. Plumbing Creations provides upfront fixed pricing before starting any emergency repair — no hidden costs or surprise bills.

Emergency Services

Emergency Plumbing Repairs We Handle

Every minute counts in a plumbing emergency. We respond fast with the right equipment to fix the problem first time.

Burst Pipe Repair

Immediate response to burst water pipes. We isolate the water, repair or replace the damaged section and restore supply — typically within 1-2 hours of arrival. All pipe types.

Blocked Drain & Sewer Emergency

Sewage backing up through drains or the overflow relief gully is a health hazard. We clear the blockage with electric eel or jetter and restore drainage immediately.

Gas Leak Response

If you smell gas, call us immediately after evacuating and isolating the gas meter. Licensed gas fitters locate and repair the leak, test the system and issue a compliance certificate.

Flooding & Water Damage

Whether from burst pipes, appliance failure or stormwater ingress, we stop the water source, set up drainage and prevent further damage to your property.

Hot Water System Failure

No hot water in winter is an emergency for families. We diagnose and repair electric, gas, solar and heat pump systems or provide same-day replacement when repair isn't viable.

Overflowing Toilet

A blocked toilet overflowing sewage is both a health risk and property damage risk. We clear the blockage, sanitise the area advice and identify any underlying issues.

What an emergency callout actually costs

Published 2026 ranges for NSW. After-hours attendance adds 30–50% on weeknights and 50–100% on weekends and public holidays — we tell you the rate before we leave, not after.

JobTypical rangeWhat affects it
Standard hourly rate$90 – $150Regional NSW. Sydney metro runs higher, to around $200.
After-hours & emergency hourly rate$180 – $350Typically 30–50% above standard on weeknights, 50–100% weekends and public holidays.
Call-out fee (regional NSW)$80 – $120Lower than the $100–$170 typical of Sydney metro.
Emergency call-out, total attendance$250 – $700Callout plus first hour, before parts.

These are typical price ranges for the Illawarra and NSW, drawn from published 2026 industry pricing data — not a quote, and not our fixed prices. What your job actually costs depends on access, the age and condition of the plumbing, parts, and whether it is after hours. We give you a fixed price before we start work, so you are never guessing. Is it an emergency, or can it wait until morning?

Calling out of hours costs more. Some things genuinely cannot wait; plenty can. We would rather tell you honestly than bill you for a Sunday.

The first five minutes matter more than the phone call

Most of the damage in a plumbing emergency happens before anyone arrives. What you do in the first few minutes usually decides whether this is a repair or a repair plus a floor.

Water everywhere

  1. Turn the water off at the meter, usually at the front boundary. Clockwise until it stops.
  2. If water is near electrics, kill the power at the switchboard and do not touch anything wet.
  3. Open the lowest tap in the house to drain the remaining pressure out of the pipework.
  4. Photograph everything before you clean up. Your insurer will want it and you get one chance.

Sewage coming back up

Stop using water entirely — every flush, every sink, every washing machine cycle has to go somewhere, and if the main is blocked it comes back into the lowest fixture in the house. Check the overflow gully outside; if it is running, that is the system doing its job and protecting the inside of your house.

Gas

Turn the gas off at the meter. Do not operate any electrical switch, including a light switch. Open doors and windows, get everyone outside, and call from outside the building. Do not go looking for the leak.

What to have ready when you call

Your suburb, what is happening, whether you have managed to stop the water, and whether anyone is without hot water or a working toilet. That last one changes our priority order — a family with no toilet gets moved up.

How fast we actually get there

We are based in Kiama, not Sydney and not Wollongong. That matters more than most people expect, because two of the three strongest organic competitors for “plumber Wollongong” have no Illawarra address at all.

  • Kiama, Kiama Downs, Minnamurra, Bombo — typically 30 to 60 minutes in business hours.
  • Jamberoo, Gerringong, Gerroa, Shellharbour — typically 45 to 90 minutes.
  • Wollongong, Dapto, Albion Park, Berry — usually within 90 minutes, longer at peak traffic.
  • After hours — depends where we are coming from. We will give you a realistic time on the phone rather than a comforting one.

If we cannot get to you fast enough to be useful, we will say so and tell you what to do in the meantime. An honest answer at 11pm is worth more than a booking we cannot keep.
